18th Annual Conference & AGM
April 24 – 26 , 2014, Richmond, BC “Sharing What We Know”
The First Nations Schools Association (FNSA) invites you to our annual conference, which brings together First Nations school personnel from across BC to explore effective practices in classroom instruction, school administration and other key areas for professional growth.
At this year’s conference we welcome special guest keynotes author of “Indian Horse” and “Keeper’n Me” Richard Wagamese, child development authority and best-selling author, Dr. Gordon Neufeld, internationally recognized transformative learning consultant, Dr. Anthony Muhammad, and instructional and assessment skills consultant, Damian Cooper.
Please note that, in addition to the main conference days of April 25-26, there will also be a special full-day meeting on April 24th just for school authorized representatives to engage in discussions about First Nations schools topics and the work of the FNSA.

Hotel
Accommodation at the $119 rate reached capacity at the conference venue, the Executive Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, 7311 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC. However, some rooms may be available at other rates. Reservations: 604-278-5555 or toll-free 1-800-663-2878 to enquire.

FNSA Membership / Authorized School Representatives
A listing of authorized school reps is available here (updated March 21 2014). For membership questions, updates or to assign a proxy, please contact derekp@fnesc.ca or call 1-877-422-3672 in advance of the conference.
Each FNSA member school has one designated person (typically the school principal) that is on record with the FNSA as being the “authorized school representative.” This individual or a proxy arranged in advance can vote on behalf of their school at the April 25th AGM and claim reasonable travel/hotel expenses for the April 24-26 event, provided they participate in the AGM. A reimbursement form will be provided in the AGM kit.

Why my school ROCKS! FNSA Contest for Students
Dear First Nations School Principals, At the FNSA Conference we will be showcasing a gallery of artwork from students of BC First Nations schools. Some of the very best submissions may be used in our conference ballroom display. Here are the details below – please share them with teachers and students…
STUDENTS! Draw, paint or collage to show us what makes your First Nation school a great place! Maybe it a special teacher, a favourite subject you study, the community it is in, or how language and culture are celebrated in the school. It’s up to you! Format: originals or high-quality colour scan or jpg – Bright colours work best.
