Ballot Results for the Election for the National Chief
The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Special Chiefs Assembly (SCA) is being held in Ottawa, Ontario, from December 5-7, 2023. Voting for the National Chief began on December 6, 2023.
The first ballot results were:
- 162 (35.1%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 118 (25.6%) for David Pratt
- 64 (13.9%) for Sheila North
- 58 (12.6%) for Dean Sayers
- 34 (7.4%) for Reginald Bellerose
- 8 (1.7%) for Craig Makinaw
The second ballot results were:
- 190 (41.2%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 139 (30.2%) for David Pratt
- 57 (12.4%) for Sheila North
- 46 (10%) for Dean Sayers.
A third ballot opened at 6:00 p.m. EST and closed 7:00 p.m. EST. 407 votes were cast.
The third ballot results were:
- 221 (47.9%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 142 (30.8%) for David Pratt
- 44 (9.5%) for Sheila North.
A fourth ballot opened at 7:30 p.m. EST and closed at 8:30 p.m. EST. 423 votes were cast.
The fourth ballot results were:
- 237 (51.4%) for Cindy Woodhouse
- 142 (40.1%) for David Pratt
A fifth ballot is now underway.
