This week, Carmacks and Teslin will join the growing network of Yukon communities which have access to 4G wireless service.
In 2007, Latitude Wireless became the first and only company to launch wireless service in the communities of Carmacks, Teslin and other communities across the Yukon Territory. Now, six years later, the local company continues to be the only wireless provider building the wireless infrastructure that connects Yukon communities.
The new service will launch in the communities on October 2 and 3, respectively.
“We are very pleased to follow-up last month’s exciting announcement with a new group of 4G launches,” said Curtis Shaw, General Manager of Latitude Wireless.
Since last December, the Yukon owned and run company has invested more than $1.2 million to deliver 4G wireless services to Yukon residents in Dawson City, Mayo, Haines Junction, Watson Lake, Carmacks and Teslin.
“We are very proud of our ongoing network improvements and expansions and are here for Yukoners. We live, work and play in the North, so, naturally, we want the best available services in the territory,” said Shaw.
Latitude Wireless representatives will be equipped with the latest wireless devices in Carmacks and Teslin on the day of the launches and will be available to answer questions about the company’s exciting new wireless flex plans.
Customer appreciation BBQs will also be held at the Recreation Centre in Carmacks on October 2 from 10 AM to 5 PM and at the Recreation Complex in Teslin on October 3 from 10 AM to 5 PM.
“Residents had a great time at our BBQ in Mayo last month, so we’re going to continue those events and everyone is welcome. Even if you’re passing through town, feel free to stop by, have a hamburger and say ‘hello’,” said Shaw.
As part of the launch, Latitude Wireless is offering a 50 dollar hardware credit, 50 percent off handset accessories and the company will wave the activation fee.
Customers can get information about 4G availability and the latest handsets and wireless devices online at www.latitudewireless.ca, by calling 1-866-803-2365, or by visiting their local retailer.
