Aboriginal Consultation Policy Update – May 2014
In October 2013, Alberta Aboriginal Relations held group engagement sessions with First Nations, industry and stakeholder representatives to inform the implementation of The Government of Alberta’s Policy on Consultation with First Nations on Land and Natural Resource Management, 2013. During these sessions, key elements under the Policy were discussed. This included The Government of Alberta’s Corporate Guidelines for First Nations Consultation Activities (draft 2013) and the proposed industry consultation levy.
Over the last 24 months, First Nations, industry and stakeholder feedback helped inform the guidelines and matrices development. Alberta Aboriginal Consultation Office staff will be in attendance at technical sessions in late May and early June to share information about the draft documents and answer any questions or concerns. Representatives will also be on hand to present on the levy concept and answer questions. The schedule for the technical sessions and the pertinent documents are available below:
