Engaging aboriginal workers on local projects can help build the workforce of tomorrow, heard the provincial Building Trades conference in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. recent.
“We as a people today continue to have a lot of skills, a lot of trained people that can help out in so many ways. Unfortunately, a lot of development in our lands really haven’t embraced a lot of our skills and a lot of our people find themselves unemployed,” said Chief Dean Sayers of the local Batchewana First Nation his welcoming remarks to the conference.
He wants to work with developers and look for ways to increase aboriginal participation.
