At committee: Pandemic-election prep and tax evasion – iPolitics

More than six months after the government brought forward its bid to temporarily rewrite the rules for federal elections to allow a vote to be held before the end of the current pandemic, PROCEDURE AND HOUSE AFFAIRS members are finally set to hear what Chief Electoral Officer Stéphane Perrault has to say about the proposed amendments, although according to the latest notice, he’ll have just one hour to outline his thoughts on the bill before MPs retreat behind closed doors to work on their report to the House on last year’s midsummer prorogation. (11 AM – 1 PM)

Also on the House committee circuit today: Women and Gender Equality Minister Maryam Monsef, who will field questions on the latest supplementary estimates requests during a one-hour appearance at STATUS OF WOMEN. (11 AM – 1 PM)

Meanwhile, JUSTICE members will hold a special session to discuss an opposition-driven push to “invite” Justice Minister David Lametti to come to committee to discuss the “vetting of judicial appointments.” (11 AM – 1 PM)
