As a respected leader, you will be responsible for providing regional leadership in support of the ministry’s strategic priorities including service transformation and practice change. This position reports to the Executive Director and operates within Surrey Service Delivery. The Director of Operations is responsible for managing the day to day delivery of a continuum of integrated services to children and families. These services include: child and family development services; mental health; adoptions; early childhood development; child protection, and services to children in care.

The Director of Operations has the responsibility to plan, develop, manage, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of this broad range of services and is directly accountable for the quality of services and for setting and monitoring standards of practice. The Director is responsible for ensuring the successful integration of service delivery and integrated case management plans for implementing the main mandate and vision of the ministry. You will have an understanding of work planning, project management and best practice, and comprehensive knowledge of the principles and theories in clinical practice (i.e. CYMH, child protection and family development). Your strong management foundation with responsibility for direct client delivery, preferably in a multi-disciplinary environment, and your ability to direct the work of staff is essential in the success of this role.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, or master’s in clinical psychology, Educational Counselling Psychology, or Social Work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).
  • Current employee applicants who have a combination of relevant education, Ministry experience and who are eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act may be considered equivalent to the above requirements.
  • Five (5) years or more experience in continuous and progressive supervisor/management positions.
  • Experience in program and service delivery planning and evaluation.
  • Preference Statements:
    • Candidates who have full delegation or immediately eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act (C6).
    • Candidates with five (5) years or more experience in the delivery of child protection services.
