Movies, Movies, Movies!
Created by Hollywood actor Adam Beach bandwidth is a mobile movie house releasing Aboriginal and mainstream ‘first-run’ Hollywood feature films in Canada and the United States. bandwidth takes these movies to Aboriginal communities using IMAX quality 4K projection technology on 50 foot wide screens and 5.1 Digital Dolby Surround Sound giving audiences an entertainment experience previously unavailable. bandwidth also does 3D with no additional equipment required.
bandwidth is network of a ‘pop up’ movie theatres complete with food and beverage concessions, including healthy food choices. Each target community has some manner of recreation space such as a gym or arena. bandwidth can literally pop up our theatres within a matter of hours. The ‘theatre in a box’ is complete with drapery to baffle sound and remove extraneous light sources, thereby creating a true movie theatre atmosphere.
Over a weekend bandwidth runs the best Hollywood and Canadian movies starting Friday evening at 7pm followed by a 930 show. Saturday matinees begin at noon with Saturday afternoon & evening screenings, and repeat the same schedule for Sunday for a total of 12 different screen times. Like a multiplex in the city we offer 4 different movies choices over a weekend.
Delivering a first class movie going experience is paramount to the success of bandwidth. We use industry standard DCP’s to deliver our movies, just like Cineplex Odeon and other movies theatres do. Our staff are 100% Aboriginal.
Our exclusive partner is Entertainment One, the largest theatrical distributor in Canada allows us to exhibit first-run theatrical feature films including the biggest Hollywood blockbusters at the same as they’re in theatres in Canadian & US cities.
As the exhibitor bandwidth manages all the concessions providing fresh popcorn, drinks, and candy –including healthy drinks and snacks such as milk, juice, fruit bars, granola bars, and yogurt.
bandwidth is committed to supporting Indigenous films, and filmmakers: every ticket purchased, every bit of merchandise (DVD or Bluray or digital download) and every soft drink or popcorn bought is supporting Aboriginal filmmakers –both current and future talent.
Training, Training, Training!
Revenue goes directly back into the Aboriginal filmmaking community by way of equity investments in new scripts, new movies, and training opportunities by way of The Adam Beach Film Institute. As a 100% Aboriginal company we operate by the traditional belief systems of our people. Giving back is one of our greatest virtues.
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!
As the bandwidth brand grows it will expand staffing needs creating new jobs for Aboriginal youth. With more ‘pop-up theatre’ units bandwidth will bring more movies to more communities in the same weekend periods as major Hollywood studio releases do in multiplexes in urban centres.
There is an active movie-watching audience waiting to be tapped, but it hasn’t been targeted before. Certainly not on the scale bandwidth proposes.
