Press Release
June 6, 2024
Bruce Power joins people across Canada in celebrating diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) this month by proudly supporting community Pride events.
The month of June is Pride Month. Dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, Pride Month provides an opportunity for friends and families to come together in recognition of each person’s beauty, talent, resilience, and contribution.
“Bruce Power believes in its people – all people,” said Chris Mudrick, Bruce Power’s Chief Nuclear Officer and Executive Vice-President, who also serves as chair of the company’s DE&I Steering Committee. “We whole-heartedly foster and support a workforce and community that is inclusive, supportive and free of discrimination. Participating in local Pride events allows us the opportunity to openly and proudly show this support to all members of our communities.”
Bruce Power will take part in the following events:
Huron County Pride Festival – June 8
Grey Bruce Pride – June 15
Kincardine Pride Parade – June 22
“We are incredibly grateful for Bruce Power’s unwavering support and partnership since the inception of Kincardine Pride,” said Mackenzie Clarke, Vice-President, Kincardine Pride. “From Day 1, Bruce Power has stood by our side, championing diversity, inclusion, and equality within our community. Their consistent and generous contributions each year have been instrumental in the growth and success of our annual Pride celebrations. We look forward to continuing this strong partnership as we work together to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.”
Rachel Paterson, Communications Director at Grey Bruce Pride agreed.
“Creating an inclusive and accepting environment is vital for the well-being of our rural communities,” Paterson said. “Bruce Power stands out as a key employer that values the importance of safe and inclusive workspaces, and we thank them for their continued support of our local pride organizations.
“Their contributions help ensure our Grey Bruce Pride Parade Celebrations, so that individuals of all ages within Grey Bruce see queer representation and visibility in safe, equitable spaces of which they are so deserving. Thanks Bruce Power for your continued support of our Pride Parade!”
