Call for short films: win up to $4,500 through the NSI Online Short Film Festival

Canadian short filmmakers have the chance to win up to $4,500 in cash awards through the National Screen Institute’s Online Short Film Festival. Short films are being accepted from now until Friday, April 25, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. CST.

Available prize money has increased from $4,000 to $4,500 with the introduction of the new Brian Linehan Actors Award for best performance by an actor or actress in a short film.

Submit your film here.

The NSI Online Short Film Festival is a year-round Canadian short film showcase with new films added every week.

Films that meet award criteria are eligible for the $2,000 Shaw Media Fearless Female Director Award, $1,250 A&E Short Filmmakers Award, $750 Bite Comedy Award and the $500 Brian Linehan Actors Award. These awards are presented four times a year. Read more about the awards.

All NSI Online Short Film Festival winners from January 1, 2014 onwards will receive a complimentary Friend membership for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.

Entries must not exceed 30 minutes in length and in many cases the shorter the film, the better (really!). Drama, comedy, animation, documentary, sci-fi, horror, music video and experimental are all eligible and must be made by a Canadian writer, director or producer. There is no submission fee. Films must be available online (YouTube, Vimeo, or other platform) for viewing by the selection committee.

The NSI Online Short Film Festival is made possible through the support of Presenting Sponsor Shaw Media, Festival Partner Telefilm Canada, Comedy Award Sponsor Blue Ant Media, Fearless Female Director Award Sponsor Shaw Media, Overall Best Film Award Sponsor A&E Television Networks, Actors Award Sponsor The Brian Linehan Charitable Foundation, Supporting Sponsor Netflix and Industry Partner Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
