Canfor has finalized the sale of its Forest License in the Mackenzie Timber Supply Area (TSA) in B.C. to the McLeod Lake Indian Band and the Tsay Keh Dene Nation.
The sale, along with the disposition of Mackenzie sawmill assets, totals $69 million, contributing to improved fibre access and forest stewardship in the region.
In a statement, Canfor said this agreement aims to strengthen Indigenous participation in the forest industry while boosting local economies.
“We believe this agreement will support improved fibre access in the TSA and generate significant economic benefits for local and regional communities,” said Stephen Mackie, Canfor executive vice-president North American operations.
