Here are five ways Indigenous people are protecting the planet.

June was Indigenous History Month in Canada. I learned a lot about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, as well as their invaluable knowledge about climate change.

Indigenous peoples have been collecting environmental data for decades. Now climate scientists are working with Indigenous tribes, cataloguing these observations and learning how they’re affecting communities globally.

Indigenous people make up just five per cent of the global population, yet they have a critical role in protecting the planet, a World Economic Forum report says.
