SCO is a growing and dynamic regional Indigenous organization that represents 34 Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations and more than 81,000 citizens in southern Manitoba. SCO was established 23 years ago by the Chiefs as an independent organization to protect, preserve, promote, and enhance First Nation peoples’ inherent rights, languages, customs, and traditions through the application and implementation of the spirit and intent of the Treaty-making process.
SCO strives to support justice through traditional systems of governance and law. SCO’s First Nation Justice Strategy mandate is to reduce the overrepresentation of First Nation citizens within the Canadian criminal justice system and provide our community members with alternative measures for care that revolve around accountability and personal growth, rather than the punitive measure of the colonial state.
SCO is seeking an experienced, conscientious, and highly motivated individual to oversee and guide the SCO Justice Team in carrying out SCO’s mandate. Reporting to the Director of Justice, the Community Justice Manager (CJM) will implement the objectives of the mandate by managing the Community Justice Workers (CJWs) and Indigenous Court Workers (ICWs).
SCO provides competitive compensation and an excellent pension and benefits, as well as a positive work environment.
