Construction contract awarded for Old Crow Health and Wellness centre, and 10-plex housing unit

Press Release

The Government of Yukon has awarded a value-driven contract for $44,884,488.00 to local Whitehorse company KetzaTSL Construction Ltd. to build a new health and wellness centre and 10-plex in Old Crow.

Value-driven procurements look at a number of elements beyond price to ensure there is additional value for the community and the territory. In this case, the project team awarded points for the overall proposal including the schedule, training plans, sub-contracting plans, northern experience and First Nations participation.

The Health and Wellness centre will replace the existing health centre and provide both health and social services with a collaborative care model. The 10-unit housing complex will provide housing stock that will help address community housing needs.

The Government of Yukon is working to improve health services and housing in Old Crow through the construction of new, efficient facilities within the community. We are pleased to award this contract to local company KetzaTSL Construction Ltd. and can’t wait for the work to start this summer.

Minister of Highways and Public Works Richard Mostyn

We are pleased this project is moving forward. The health and wellness services in the new Health and Wellness Centre will support the recommendations of the Putting People First final report by providing residents of Old Crow with more holistic, whole-person collaborative care by integrated, interdisciplinary teams.  At the same time, the addition of the 10-plex to this project will provide much needed housing options that support the community of Old Crow.

Minister of Health and Social Services Pauline Frost

  • Stantec Architects and Engineers, as the owner’s advisor, will oversee the design and construction of the facility including any warranty work.
