Edmonton company receives boost from Indigenous investment fund – Edmonton Journal

An Edmonton tech startup aimed at tracking the social impact of a company’s operations has been given a boost from an investment fund aimed at furthering the work of Indigenous entrepenuers and communities.

Social Awareness Group began in 2017 and recently received $250,000 from the Raven Indigenous Impact Fund, an investment fund that bridges investors with solutions in the Indigenous space.

President and CEO Aaron Lambie, who has worked with Indigenous communities for years, said the money he has received will help expand his company’s technology that assists clients in examining and providing tangible data behind their social impact.

“We’ve developed basically a social impact or an Indigenous impact framework. So our software goes looking for data within the accounting and payroll systems to actually legitimize or validate or add some credibility to the statements that businesses are making about the impact they’re having with communities,” said Lambie.
