Enhancements to fuel quality control

The Department of Community and Government Services Petroleum Products Division (PPD) is committed to maintaining the highest fuel quality standards. In response to public concerns, PPD has strengthened its quality control measures for 2024 and beyond.

To ensure gasoline meets or exceeds Canadian General Standards Board specifications year-round, PPD now conducts mid-year certification, aligning gasoline testing with the rigorous standards of aviation fuel. A new contract for laboratory analysis, which includes fuel filter testing, will further enhance our ability to investigate and address fuel quality complaints.

Consumers can now report fuel quality issues directly to PPD and submit filters for testing if necessary, by contacting fuelquality@gov.nu.ca.
