$15 million was provided to the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) to fund Metis economic development projects and advance reconciliation from Western Economic Diversification Canada.
The financial agreement between the federal government and the federation will improve opportunities, outcomes and the well-being of Manitoba Métis by creating jobs, skills training and administering support for business development.
“It provides opportunities for us to strengthen the reach of our investments in the economy, increase the number of Métis people in the workforce, and will ensure that the MMF and its businesses are prepared as we begin to rebuild and better our economy in the post-pandemic era,” said David Chartrand, President of the MMF in a press release.
