Press Release

Two companies sharing space to improve access for industry partners

FORT McMURRAY, AB / June 8, 2022 — Today Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) is pleased to announce that two of its portfolio companies are collaborating on shared office space in the Wood Buffalo Region.

In addition to their Fort St. John location catering to northeastern British Columbia, Surepoint Technologies Group has opened a new office location in Gregoire, sharing space with Soogadin Services Inc. Located at 400 Mackenzie Blvd, Unit 209, Fort McMurray, the joint office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“FMFN is pleased to see our partners collaborating with each other to provide services in the Wood Buffalo region,” said Chief Mel Grandjamb. “This shared resource approach is good for improved access for our local industry partners.”

Surepoint Group is a premier energy service provider specializing in compression and controls, electrical, instrumentation, renewables, EV charging solutions and equipment fabrication. A full list of their services is available online at Surepoint Group | Surepoint Group.

Soogadin, formed by Fort McKay First Nation and Brock Canada, leverages the expertise of two progressive organizations to bring leadership, operating efficiency, and a focus on community to the energy industry. Services include scaffolding, insulation, fireproofing, abatement, paint and blast, and rope access.

The Fort McKay business portfolio reflects the FMFN’s private equity approach to business and is focused on investments, creating partnerships, and joint ventures. It supports a diversification strategy of expanding the business portfolio outside the Wood Buffalo area and includes industries such as real estate and industrial services. The Fort McKay business portfolio is currently comprised of 11 companies.
