A day after his party revealed its plan to conduct a postmortem review of the now-wrapped cross-country campaign that, as iPolitics’ own Marco Vigliotti notes, led to its “worst ever election performance,” interim New Democrat leader Don Davies is set to “stand in solidarity” by joining striking Rogers technicians on the picket line outside the telecom giant’s offices in Abbotsford, B.C. (10 a.m. PDT)
According to the latest dispatch from United Steelworkers, the workers “have been exercising their legal right to strike since June 19, 2025,” yet Rogers “continues to refuse to return to the bargaining table, choosing instead to bring in managers from Alberta and other parts of British Columbia,” which the union describes as a “blatant move to sidestep negotiations” that “shows Rogers is more interested in maintaining operations at any cost rather than addressing the concerns of its frontline workers,” it contends.
