Today is International Volunteer Day – a day to celebrate the importance of volunteerism in driving sustainable economic and social change around the world, including poverty reduction, economic stability and opportunities to encourage resiliency and adaptability.
As a volunteer-sending organization dedicated to economic development, CESO Volunteer Advisors (VAs) like you play a fundamental role in our work aimed at building capacity through mentorship. CESO VAs transfer their knowledge and skills, ensuring our clients and partners develop the tools and knowledge they need to break the cycle of poverty and take ownership and control over their long-term prosperity. After 50 years, we know this model of partnership and mentorship works.
Over the course of 2016, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to multiple program countries, and the first thing shared with me is always the incredible value and deep knowledge that our VAs bring to our clients and partners. When I look at the our volunteer roster, I continue to be humbled by not only the breadth and depth of experience across sectors and industries, but by the calibre of those like you, who have chosen to put what you have learned throughout your career towards making a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of many.
Thank you for believing in the power of economic development as a driver of economic and social change. Thank you for giving so generously of your time and expertise. We couldn’t do our work without you.
