As questions continue to swirl over the overseas shipping delays hobbling Canada’s cross-country vaccine rollout — which, as the Star revealed yesterday, may be at least partly due to a slowdown in the European supply chain — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has once again scheduled a mid-morning media availability outside Rideau Cottage, where, as has become a bi-weekly routine, he’ll deliver an on-camera update on his government’s ongoing response to the pandemic before opening the floor to questions from the press. Back in the precinct, NATIONAL DEFENCE members are set to hold a potentially politically-charged emergency session to discuss whether to launch a full parliamentary probe into “allegations of inappropriate conduct” on the part of former Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Jonathan Vance, which, as Canadian Press reports, are already being investigated by the military police, with Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan having also “promised a separate, independent review” into the claims.
