iPolitics AM: Sajjan in hot seat for handling of allegations against Vance, McDonald – iPolitics

Amid a fresh wave of media reports detailing how he and his office initially responded to allegations of inappropriate behaviour on the part of former chief of defence staff Jonathan Vance, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan can expect to face the full glare of the parliamentary spotlight as the House of Commons returns to regular programming following a weeklong hiatus.

As previewed in the iPolitics weekly lookahead, the House DEFENCE committee is set to hold an emergency session later this morning to discuss a Conservative-initiated push to expand the scope of the current probe in the wake of last week’s testimony from former Canadian Forces ombudsman Gary Walbourne, who told the committee that he had attempted to present Sajjan with evidence to support one allegation against Vance during a face-to-face meeting with the minister in March 2018, but was rebuffed.
