Canada’s First Nation Radio (CFNR) featured the Fuel for Reconciliation project on their news show. Besides focusing on the joint development agreement between Kitselas Geothermal and Shell, Kitsela’s Geothermal Director, Alison Thompson was interviewed about the history of Kitselas Geothermal, the context behind the deal, and the opportunity for geothermal.
KGI has been working with Calgary based Borealis GeoPower for the past decade on a multi-phase project called “Fuel for Reconciliation” emphasizing economic reconciliation for the Kitselas nation.
In January 2022, KGI received support from the province, getting $500,000 in funding from the B.C.’s First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund.
Support from Shell will help to reduce the overall risk of the project, which Thompson hopes will open the door to more investment opportunities.
