What’s happening on and off the Hill today, plus the news you need to start your day.
After serving notice of his intention to step aside earlier this week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau can likely expect to face a significantly warmer audience when he joins his Liberal colleagues for the opening round of the special caucus meeting set to get underway this morning in Ottawa.
As The Globe and Mail notes, the extended hybrid session, which follows two days of regional caucus confabs, “was originally called by Liberal MPs to force (Trudeau) out of his job,” but “will now pivot to finding consensus on the rules to replace him, with some set to argue for tighter criteria around who can vote as a safeguard against foreign interference.”
