McGuinty visits CFB Cold Lake, Alta., as Rempel Garner briefs reporters on upcoming backbench bill – iPolitics

After making the rounds at one of Canada’s longest-serving military bases in Winnipeg, Man., yesterday, Defence Minister David McGuinty is set to continue his cross country tour in Cold Lake, Alta., where he’ll meet with Canadian Armed Forces members at what the Royal Canadian Air Force calls the “busiest fighter base in Canada.” (4:30 p.m. MT)

Back in the precinct, Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner will hit the West Block Foyer to brief reporters on what the advisory describes as her “upcoming private members’ bill,” although it doesn’t state whether that refers to her plan to “provide for a safe online environment for minors,” which she introduced shortly before the House of Commons shut down for the summer in June, or a new proposal that she intends to put on notice when the chamber reopens for business next month.
