OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 21, 2022 – Representatives from the media are invited to a media availability in the foyer of the House of Commons (West Block) where Alexandre Boulerice, MP for Rosemont and Deputy Leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), and Louise Chabot, MP for Thérèse-de-Blainville and Bloc Québécois (BQ) critic for human resources, skills development and social development, will speak, along with Pierre Céré, spokesperson for the National Council of Unemployed Workers (NCUW), Larry Rousseau, executive vice-president of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), Charles-Olivier Picard, labour relations coordinator for the Syndicat québécois de la Construction (SQC), and Luc Fortin, president of the Quebec Musicians’ Guild (GMMQ).

After leaving Montreal on September 14th, Pierre Céré, spokesperson for the NCUW and Nicolas Miot, social rights advisor to the Comité Chômage de Montréal, walked to Ottawa, and will arrive on September 22nd, accompanied by social, labour, political and Indigenous allies. The NCUW representatives wish to draw attention to the expiry of the temporary EI measures, the absence of the announced reform of the program, the delay in the improvement of the duration of sickness benefits and the unacceptable administrative delays faced by claimants.
