The Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, today delivered keynote remarks to the 2014 International LNG in BC Conference in Vancouver, B.C. Minister Rickford highlighted Canada’s position as a global energy leader and the importance of British Columbia’s liquefied natural gas opportunities to address global energy demand.
Minister Rickford emphasized that market access for Canada’s energy products, including natural gas, remains a top priority for the Government of Canada. He discussed the strength of the Canadian economy and whyCanadarepresents a secure and responsible source of energy to the world.
Minister Rickford also highlighted Canada’s efforts to support the responsible development of the energy industry, including new measures that build on our world-class marine and pipeline safety systems and strengthen the participation of Aboriginal Peoples in development opportunities.
