— A new military watchdog: The federal government will create an independent body to investigate sexual misconduct, racism, and discrimination in the military following recent allegations against top officials, The Globe and Mail reports. Ottawa is facing criticism over how it handled allegations against the former top soldier, Gen. Jonathan Vance, and his replacement, Adm. Art McDonald.

There’s also a major shakeup of senior military ranks on the way, CBC News reports. Lt.-Gen. Frances Allen will become the first female deputy commander of the Armed Forces, replacing Lt.-Gen. Mike Rouleau as the military’s second-in-command.
