Morning Brief: Revised MAiD bill passes – iPolitics

— MAiD bill passes: The House of Commons voted to approve a revised bill to expand access to medical assistance in dying. It will eventually include people suffering solely from mental illness. The revised bill passed 180-149 with support from most Liberal and Bloc MPs.

— ‘Systemic’ racism, discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct: The acting head of Canada’s military, Lt.-Gen. Wayne Eyre, made his first public comments since the most recent scandal in the Canadian Armed Forces.

“Parts of our culture are exclusionary. They’re harmful. They contribute to an environment that in some corners is permissive of racism, discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct. These issues are systemic. We cannot accept our own people being harmed from within.
