THUNDER BAY, ON: Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Deputy Grand Chief Jason Smallboy, on behalf of the Executive Council, joined with First Nation leaders today to celebrate Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund’s (NADF) milestone achievement of reaching $50 million in disbursed loans as of February 2, 2021.
“This is an incredible milestone and I congratulate everyone at NADF for their tremendous effort to support economic development and Indigenous prosperity across northern Ontario.
For nearly 37 years, NADF has supported business and created opportunities for Indigenous Peoples to learn, grown, succeed, and enhance their quality of life. This would not be possible without the outstanding work of NADF management and staff who have contributed to the growth and success of NAN entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations.
Meegwetch to Executive Director Brian Davey, his dedicated staff and management team, and the NADF Board who guide their outstanding work. We look forward to their continued success for generations to come.”
NADF is a non-profit economic development corporation that provides financial assistance (loans and grants), community planning, resources sector support and business counselling services to Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs, on and off-reserve in northern Ontario, including Treaties No. 9, No. 3, No. 5 (Ontario portion), and Robinson-Superior 1850. The goal of NADF is to empower northern Ontario’s growing Indigenous population through business development and entrepreneurship.
Since launching in 1987, NADF has assisted 932 businesses to start or expand their operations, and has created 1608 jobs, and maintained 5892 jobs in Northern Ontario. Deputy Grand Chief Smallboy represents NAN as Ex-Officio on the NADF Board.
