The first shovels hit the ground on Thursday for a new Indigenous developed funeral home, planned for the hamlet of Lorlie, east of Fort Qu’Appelle.
Peepeekisis Developments LTD is building the new, 9,500 square foot funeral home and it’s something that the First Nation and surrounding communities say is needed in the area.
“We know that our community and our farmers around the area are looking forward to coming to Lorlie again,” said Desmond Desnomie, a headman of the Peepeekisis Cree Nation. “We are actually in the right place for a funeral home right here, just to help out everybody in business.”
