Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced a FedNor investment of $745,000 to enable the City of Temiskaming Shores to establish the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS) pavilion at the 2023 Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention.
Spanning an impressive 13,200 square feet and featuring a jam-packed roster of 110 mining supply and services exhibitors from across Northern Ontario, the FedNor-funded pavilion will be one of the biggest attractions at PDAC 2023. Led by the City of Temiskaming Shores, NOMS provides a unique opportunity for exhibitors to showcase Northern Ontario innovation, including some of the latest in mining equipment, tools, products, services, and clean-tech. In 2023 alone, NOMS is expected to help participating businesses increase sales and exports by more than $10 million, while creating 75 high-quality jobs in Northern Ontario and maintaining 100 more.
Taking place in Toronto from March 5-8, 2023, PDAC is the World’s Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention and the leading event for people, companies and organizations connected to mineral exploration. This annual convention is known for attracting up to 25,000 attendees from over 130+ countries for its educational programming, networking events and outstanding business opportunities. Since it began in 1932, the PDAC Convention has grown in size, stature and influence. Today, it is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry hosting more than 1,100 exhibitors and 2,500 investors.
“The Northern Ontario Mining Showcase pavilion at PDAC 2023 will once again show the International community our region’s incredible mining supply and services sector. This $745,000 FedNor investment will help the City of Temiskaming Shores maximize opportunities for participating businesses and organizations across Northern Ontario to network and promote their products to the world. Since its launch in 2015, this priority project has helped create over 750 jobs and generate more than $85 million in increased sales and exports.
– The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor
“The Northern Ontario Mining Showcase has become a mainstay at Canada’s premier mining expo and this year’s pavilion at PDAC is no exception! With results still coming in, last year alone this flagship initiative helped participating businesses increase sales by more than $8.5 million and create close to 80 new jobs in municipalities and Indigenous communities across our region. To help build on its impressive record of success, the FedNor-funded pavilion will once again be the biggest attraction at PDAC and a must-see for convention goers looking to generate new business contacts, clients and sales.”
– The Honourable Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming
“I’m proud the City of Temiskaming Shores will once again be leading the charge to ensure NOMS remains a major driving force behind jobs, growth and business success here at home and across Northern Ontario. Thanks to FedNor’s ongoing support, the pavilion has grown in size and scope to help as many businesses as possible realize on benefits NOMS delivers in the form of new partnerships, increased exports and profitability.”
