Ontario Premier Doug Ford Extends Support to Chiefs of Ontario First Nations Data Table – NetNewsLedger

THUNDER BAY – In a landmark announcement, Ontario Premier Doug Ford endorsed the First Nations Data Table (FNDT) initiated by the Chiefs of Ontario (COO).
The FNDT brings together First Nations Leadership and Ontario government officials to address First Nations data sovereignty. It will be a forum for mutual learning and discussion on issues pertaining to First Nations data and its use in provincial initiatives, strategies and systems. The work of the FNDT will support a shared understanding of data sovereignty and establish pathways towards future action.
“I’m grateful for the chance to work closely with First Nations in Ontario on such an important initiative,” said Premier Doug Ford. “By working together, we can ensure data is collected and used in a manner that recognizes and responds to the needs of First Nations people, and supports First Nations and Ontario’s decision-making process.”
