Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:
Michael Wernick, currently Deputy Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office pending his next assignment, effective July 21, 2014.
Colleen Swords, currently Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage, becomes Deputy Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, effective July 21, 2014.
Graham Flack, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Plans and Consultations and Intergovernmental Affairs, Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage, effective July 21, 2014.
Stephen Lucas, currently Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Economic and Regional Development, Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Plans and Consultations and Intergovernmental Affairs, Privy Council Office, effective July 21, 2014.
Lori Sterling, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Justice, becomes Deputy Minister of Labour, effective August 15, 2014.
Bill Jones, currently Deputy Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency, becomes Senior Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence, effective July 28, 2014.
Marta Morgan, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Industry, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Finance, effective August 5, 2014.
Bill Matthews, currently Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management, Treasury Board Secretariat, becomes Comptroller General of Canada, effective July 17, 2014.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to congratulate Hélène Gosselin, Deputy Minister of Labour, who is retiring from the Public Service, and to thank her for her many achievements and service to Canadians during her 33-year career.
The Prime Minister also thanked James Ralston, Comptroller General of Canada, on the occasion of his retirement from the Public Service, noting his dedication and commitment in serving Canadians over the course of his 30-year career.
