Is seeking applications for the following positions for 2016/2017 school year

VICE-PRINCIPAL

One year contract

Job Summary:

Responsible for the effective leadership of the school that supports students in achieving high levels of academic success.  Work with students, parents, teachers and school staff towards achieving the goals set forth in BIIDAABAN KINOOMAAGEGAMIK School’s Mission Statement.

Responsible for the operation and management of the school in accordance with established school policies and procedures.  In conducting his/her duties and responsibilities, the Principal shall communicate professionally and sensitively with all students, parents, school staff, administration and the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide instructional leadership and support within the school environment:
  • Create a climate conducive to teaching and learning
  • Implementing a system to monitor student progress
  • Establishing and implementing a school improvement process
  • Establishing good public and employee relations
  • Evaluating and monitoring personnel under supervision
  • Maintaining professionalism
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Education Director and/or described in the Biidaaban School Policy and Procedure Manual.

Qualifications/Terms & Conditions:

  1. Bachelor of Arts degree, Bachelor of Education
  2. Ontario Principal Certification
  3. Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  4. Successful experience as a school administrator
  5. Possess knowledge and skills needed to provide quality leadership in the school.
  6. Knowledge and awareness of Anishnaabe language and culture
  7. Demonstrated initiative and skills in the following areas: relationship and community building, educational leadership, communication, conflict resolution, creativity, problem solving, decision-making, and time management.
  8. Knowledge of and commitment to the core curriculum.
  9. Must successfully pass Vulnerable Sector Screening Check conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police and/or Police Agency. Checks must be within six months.
  10. Must be available to start on Monday August 22, 2016
