Political discourse has been circling the toilet for several years, Margaret Shkimba writes.
Last week, leader of the Opposition Pierre Poilievre was kicked out of Parliament for calling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a “wacko” and refusing to retract his statement upon the request of the Speaker.
Instead, Poilievre smugly offered the substitution of two other words, neither of which were appropriate, so he left and his caucus left with him.
Also last week Pam Damoff, the Liberal MP for Oakville North-Burlington, announced she will not seek re-election in the next federal election, citing the decline in public discourse, particularly on social media, as the reason why.
