Sask. documentarian, columnist Doug Cuthand feted for career that improved understanding of First Nations – Leader Post

“I thought: ‘This isn’t just a job. I’ve got to make it count’, ” columnist Doug Cuthand on his carer in journalism.

In anticipation of receiving an honorary doctorate of law, film documentarian and newspaper columnist Doug Cuthand said he will be thinking about his family, his parents and the importance of education.

He said he will be thinking about his dad — a teacher who became an Anglican priest who would have been especially pleased by Wednesday’s ceremony, where Cuthand received the designation from the University of Saskatchewan at fall convocation. (Also receiving an honorary law doctorate is Greg Smith, a U of S graduate and board of directors chair known for his volunteerism.)
