(Kahnawake – 16, Ohiarí:ha/June 2022) The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, is meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Canada David L. Cohen this morning (Thursday).
The meeting was coordinated to discuss several issues of concern for Kahnawà:ke including border crossing, Quebec’s Bill 96, and law enforcement.
“Today’s meeting is important for the relations between Kahnawà:ke and the U.S.,” said Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. “In addition to the political items to be discussed, we are also centering discussions around climate change, support for Indigenous business, and brainstorming on ways to strengthen relations with Kahnawà:ke.”
Ratitsénhaienhs Jessica Lazare, Mike Delisle, and Lindsay LeBorgne are also participating in the discussions.
