Songhees re-elect chief, add new councillor, hire executive director – Times Colonist

Ron Sam acclaimed as chief for another four years

The Songhees First Nation has hired a new executive director. Katherine Legrange, who began her role on Jan. 4, has worked for several years in First Nations governance and politics, and has a background in ­communications and child welfare.

Legrange, who is Métis and born and raised in Winnipeg, was most recently an independent marketing consulttant and executive director of the Treaty 1 Nation in Manitoba. She lived on the Island between 2014 and 2018 and attended Vancouver Island University.

Chief Ron Sam welcomed the appointment.
