$193.7 Million to be Provided in 2021-22 Provincial Budget
With today’s 2021-22 provincial budget, the Government of Saskatchewan maintains its commitment to support Indigenous people, communities, businesses and organizations through a targeted investment of more than $193 million, an increase of $5.7 million, or three per cent.
“This investment will further support First Nation and Métis communities in addressing the impacts of the pandemic, while contributing to Indigenous economic development, and ensuring a strong recovery for all,” Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs Don McMorris said. “As we continue to collaborate on current vaccination efforts with our Indigenous partners, I look forward to a time when our lives return to normal and together we can continue to prioritize meaningful reconciliation efforts across the province.”
The 2021-22 provincial budget also includes $35 million in emergency pandemic supports for First Nation and Métis organizations that rely on revenues generated by casinos which have been impacted by the pandemic.
