Canadian international merchandise trade, July 2016
Canada’s exports increased 3.4% to $42.7 billion in July. Imports edged down 0.1% to $45.2 billion. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade deficit with the world narrowed from a record $4.0 billion in June to $2.5 billion in July.
Chain Fisher real export and import values, July 2016
The monthly chain Fisher real dollar values (reference year 2007) for Canadian international merchandise trade are now available for July.
Export and import price indexes, July 2016
Current- and fixed-weighted export and import price indexes (2007=100) on a customs or balance of payments basis are now available based on the 2007 North American Product Classification System.
Labour productivity, hourly compensation and unit labour cost, second quarter 2016
Labour productivity of Canadian businesses fell 0.3% in the second quarter, after increasing 0.4% in the first quarter. The decline occurred against a backdrop of temporary difficulties resulting from the wildfire in northern Alberta, which affected both output and labour.
Residential construction investment, second quarter 2016
The total value of investment in residential construction increased 3.9% to $30.8 billion in the second quarter compared with the same quarter in 2015. This marked the 10th consecutive year-over-year advance.
Investment in non-residential building construction (revised data), second quarter 2016
Following the release of gross domestic product by income and expenditure for the second quarter, revised data on investment in non-residential building construction for the second quarter are now available.
