Employment declined by 40,000 (-0.2%) in August, and the unemployment rate rose by 0.5 percentage points to 5.4%.
Canada’s international investment position, second quarter 2022
Canada’s net foreign asset position, the difference between Canada’s international financial assets and international liabilities was down by $230.2 billion to $875.1 billion at the end of the second quarter. This was a second significant consecutive quarterly decline.
Industrial capacity utilization rates, second quarter 2022
Canadian industries operated at 83.8% of their production capacity in the second quarter, up 1.9 percentage points from the previous quarter. This is the highest capacity utilization rate since the second quarter of 2018.
