Highlights of food service and drinking places, 2015
The total sales of the food services and drinking places subsector rose 5.2% from 2014 to over $61.1 billion in 2015. These sales mainly came from the receipts for food and beverages in each of the component industries, and reflected both higher prices and increased volume. According to the Consumer Price Index, prices for food purchased at restaurants grew by 2.8% in 2015, while alcoholic beverages served in licensed establishments rose 1.5%.
Income and mobility of immigrants, 2014
One year after immigration, the median employment income of immigrant taxfilers who landed in Canada in 2013 was $22,000. In comparison, the median income for those who landed in 2011 or 2012 was $21,000 one year after landing in Canada.
Leading indicator of cross-border traveller volume, November 2016 (preliminary)
Data on the number of United States travellers entering Canada by car in November are now available upon request. Data are available by the visitors’ state of residence and province of entry into Canada.
