Monthly estimates of business openings and closures, April 2022
In April, the business closure rate (4.4%) dropped for the second consecutive month to settle below its 2015-to-2019 historical average of 4.6%. As in March 2022, the business opening rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points in April and was equal to its historical average of 4.7%. The number of active businesses grew by 0.3% (+2,709) as openings remained higher than closures.
Dairy statistics, May 2022
The total amount of milk sold off farms in May increased 0.9% year over year to 817 770 kilolitres. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes decreased 1.8% to 217 358 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes rose 1.9% year over year to 600 412 kilolitres.
Oilseed crushing statistics, June 2022
Oilseed processors crushed 660 215 tonnes of canola in June. Oil production totalled 276 389 tonnes, while meal production totalled 393 390 tonnes.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, June 2022
Millers milled 275 000 tonnes of wheat in June, while wheat flour production totalled 207 000 tonnes.
Deliveries of major grains, June 2022
Data on major grain deliveries are now available for June.
