Building permits, October 2016
Municipalities issued $7.6 billion worth of building permits in October, up 8.7% from September. Higher construction intentions for commercial structures and residential dwellings in Alberta were responsible for much of the gain.
Industrial capacity utilization rates, third quarter 2016
Canadian industries operated at 81.9% of their production capacity in the third quarter, up from 79.7% in the previous quarter. The increase was mainly attributable to the oil and gas extraction industry as operations resumed following the Fort McMurray wildfires.
New Housing Price Index, October 2016
The New Housing Price Index (NHPI) rose 0.4% in October compared with the previous month. The combined region of Toronto and Oshawa contributed the most to the monthly increase.
