Canadian international merchandise trade, November 2022
In November, Canada’s merchandise exports decreased 2.3%, while imports were down 2.1%. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade balance with the world went from a surplus of $130 million in October to a deficit of $41 million in November.
Canadian international trade in services, November 2022
Canada’s monthly international trade in services deficit narrowed from $2.1 billion in October to $1.4 billion in November. Overall, exports of services increased by 2.0% to $14.1 billion, and imports declined by 2.3% to $15.5 billion.

Canada’s energy sector saw a rebound in economic activity in 2021, following the sharp downturn in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, demand for energy products led to rising prices and increased production in the oil pipeline industry. As a result, operating revenues and operating expenses of Canadian pipeline companies started to recover from the tumultuous previous year.
