Canada’s international investment position, fourth quarter 2023
Canada’s net foreign asset position, the difference between its international financial assets and international liabilities, continued its upward trend in the fourth quarter and reached $1,677.3 billion at the end of 2023, a significant increase of $288.2 billion from the third quarter to the fourth quarter.
Police-reported online child sexual exploitation in Canada, 2022
There were 15,630 incidents of online sexual offences against children and 45,816 incidents of online child pornography reported by police in Canada from 2014 to 2022.
New motor vehicle registrations, fourth quarter 2023
In 2023, there were 1,714,356 new motor vehicles registrations in Canada, a 13.4% increase from 2022. Ontario (677,043) continued to lead in total registrations in 2023, followed by Quebec (414,897) and British Columbia (210,666). The largest percentage increases were observed in Prince Edward Island (+19.5%), followed by British Columbia (+15.3%) and Ontario (+13.9%).
Engineering services industry, 2022
After two years marked by moderate growth, the operating revenue of the engineering services industry grew by 12.1% to $39.5 billion in 2022. This represents one of the most robust periods of growth in the past decade.
