Consumer Price Index, April 2025
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.7% year over year in April, down from a 2.3% increase in March. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI fell 0.2% in April.
Hours worked and labour productivity in the provinces and the territories, 2024 (preliminary)
In 2024, the productivity of businesses rose in Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador. Productivity decreased in the eight other provinces, although the declines were less than those recorded in 2023. In the territories, productivity rose in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, while it fell for a second consecutive year in Yukon.
Monthly credit aggregates, March 2025
In March, the total credit liabilities of households rose 0.3% (+$10.1 billion) to reach $3,062.9 billion, accelerating slightly from February on an annualized basis (+4.0% in March; +3.9% in February). Real estate secured debt, composed of both mortgage debt and home equity lines of credit, grew 0.3% (+$7.6 billion) in March. Household mortgage debt increased 0.3% (+$7.0 billion), decelerating from February (+0.4%). In March, the policy interest rate decreased 25 basis points to 2.75%.
