Consumer Price Index, September 2023
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.8% on a year-over-year basis in September, following a 4.0% increase in August. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.2% in September.
Canada’s international transactions in securities, August 2023
Canadian investors acquired $14.9 billion of foreign securities in August, the largest investment since April 2022. Meanwhile, non-resident investors reduced their exposure to Canadian securities by $8.5 billion, the first divestment since March 2023.
Agricultural Water Survey, 2022
Canadian farmers used 23% more water to irrigate their crops in 2022 compared with two years earlier, mostly due to drier conditions in Canada. Most of the irrigated water was used for field or forage crops.
New motor vehicle sales, August 2023
New motor vehicle sales data for Canada and the provinces are now available for August. The New Motor Vehicle Sales Survey collects data on monthly sales (in dollars and units) of new motor vehicles in Canada by type of vehicle and by country or region of manufacture.
Foreign direct investment: Data tables
To facilitate comparability, annual estimates on foreign direct investment now include complete sets of harmonized geographical groupings across all data tables. These tabular improvements were generated referencing the same data inputs as the official annual release published on April 28, 2023.
