Canada’s Core Public Infrastructure Survey: Culture, recreations and sports facilities, and public social and affordable housing, 2020
In 2020, local, regional, provincial and territorial governments in Canada provided 5,060 aquatics facilities, 5,761 arts and culture facilities, 7,569 ice facilities, 34,346 kilometres of trails and pathways, as well as numerous indoor and outdoor sports fields and other assets to communities. These levels of government also reported a total of 312,523 public social and affordable housing units.
Pathways indicators for registered apprentices in Canada, 2020
Of those who started an apprenticeship program between 2008 and 2010, more than two in five (44%) discontinued their program within six years of registration. One reason for this is that not all skilled trades require a certification. As a result, some continue to work in these occupations and may choose to upgrade their skills in the future.
Railway carloadings, July 2022
In July, the volume of cargo carried by Canadian railways reached 30.2 million tonnes, up 5.6% from July 2021 levels. Higher carloadings of energy products and potash helped contribute to this third consecutive month of year-over-year growth.
Oil and gas extraction, 2021
In 2021, Canada’s oil and gas extraction industry saw growth in revenue after experiencing a turbulent 2020. A rebound in economic activity and demand for energy products led to rising prices and increased production.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, August 2022
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.4 billion cigarettes in August 2022, down 7.1% from July 2022. Cigarette production was 45.3% higher compared with August 2021.
